PURPOSE OF ROLE
A leading London-based insurance business is seeking an experienced Account Handler / Account Executive to join their growing commercial team. This is a senior-level opportunity for a commercially minded insurance professional who can manage a complex portfolio of commercial clients, develop lasting relationships, and drive new business growth. You will act as a key point of contact for a diverse range of commercial clients, delivering expert advice and tailored insurance solutions across a broad range of commercial lines.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage and develop a portfolio of commercial insurance clients, acting as their primary point of contact.
• Provide expert advice and guidance on commercial insurance products and risk management solutions.
• Identify and convert new business opportunities, contributing to overall team growth targets.
• Negotiate terms with insurers to secure competitive and appropriate coverage for clients.
• Ensure all client accounts are handled in line with FCA regulations and internal compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with colleagues across the business to deliver a seamless client experience.
DAY-TO-DAY
• Handling renewals, mid-term adjustments, and new business enquiries across your client portfolio.
• Liaising with underwriters and insurers to obtain quotations and negotiate favourable terms.
• Preparing and presenting detailed coverage summaries and renewal reports for clients.
• Attending client meetings and conducting annual reviews to understand evolving business needs.
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records on the company's broking system.
• Keeping abreast of market trends, regulatory changes, and new product developments.
EXPERIENCE
• Minimum 5 years' experience in commercial insurance, ideally within a broking environment.
• Proven track record of managing and growing a commercial client portfolio.
• Experience across a broad range of commercial lines including property, liability, motor fleet, and professional indemnity.
• Demonstrable new business development experience and a consultative sales approach.
• Strong knowledge of the London insurance market and insurer relationships.
SKILLS
• Cert CII qualified or working towards ACII (desirable).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail.
• Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in broking systems and Microsoft Office suite.
• Self-motivated, commercially astute, and a collaborative team player.
