Job Title: Real Estate Underwriting Assistant
Salary: c.£35,000
Location: London (Hybrid Working)
PURPOSE OF ROLE
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Real Estate Underwriting Assistant to join a growing specialist underwriting team. This role is ideal for someone with experience in Commercial Property or Real Estate insurance who is looking to develop their underwriting career within a supportive and technically focused environment.
Working alongside experienced underwriters, you'll play a key role in delivering high-quality underwriting support, maintaining portfolio performance and building strong relationships with brokers and insurer partners.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide underwriting support across a diverse Commercial Property and Real Estate portfolio.
- Produce quotations, renewals, policy documentation and mid-term adjustments (MTAs).
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and portfolio data.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with underwriting authority, regulatory requirements and internal procedures.
- Support profitable portfolio growth through disciplined risk assessment.
- Build strong relationships with brokers, insurers and internal stakeholders.
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes and operational efficiency.
- Support compliance with FCA regulations and Consumer Duty requirements.
DAY-TO-DAY
- Reviewing Commercial Property and Real Estate risks.
- Preparing quotations and policy documentation.
- Processing renewals and mid-term adjustments.
- Maintaining accurate underwriting data and records.
- Liaising with brokers and insurer partners to obtain risk information.
- Supporting underwriters with technical queries and portfolio management.
- Monitoring workload priorities while ensuring service standards are achieved.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the underwriting team.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience within Commercial Property or Real Estate insurance.
- Previous experience within an underwriting, underwriting support or insurance broking environment.
- Understanding of Commercial Property risks, including factors such as occupancy, construction and location.
- Knowledge of underwriting processes and insurance documentation.
- Exposure to delegated authority or binder arrangements would be advantageous.
- Experience using Acturis or similar insurance systems would be beneficial.
- Working towards CII qualifications, or willingness to study, would be desirable.
