Job Title: International Property Underwriter

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Our client is a well-regarded London market MGA currently in a strong period of growth backed by significant investment. They are seeking an International Property Underwriter to join their expanding property team at an exciting time, including a move to new City of London offices that reflects the ambition behind the business.
The role sits within a team of five and reports directly to the CUO and Head of Property, offering real visibility and influence from day one. The book covers all international territories excluding the US, providing genuine breadth across regions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Underwrite a book of international property business across all territories within agreed underwriting appetite and authority levels.
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships to support the continued growth of the property portfolio.
- Contribute to the development and expansion of the property book during a key period of growth.
- Ensure underwriting decisions align with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements and market best practice.
- Support and collaborate with the wider team of five to deliver strong trading performance and service standards.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation across all relevant systems.
- Carry out any additional duties required by the business.
DAY TO DAY
- Assess and underwrite international property risks across a broad range of territories.
- Liaise with brokers to resolve underwriting queries and provide technical guidance.
- Maintain accurate records across underwriting systems and internal documentation.
- Deliver high levels of service via phone and email communication with brokers and market contacts.
- Ensure all underwriting activity remains compliant with internal guidelines and regulatory standards.
EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrable experience underwriting property risks within the London market or a similar specialty environment.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with brokers and colleagues.
- Experience as an underwriter across international property territories.
- Ability to manage workloads effectively and work to deadlines.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving capability and sound underwriting judgement.
- Positive, proactive and collaborative attitude suited to a growing, dynamic team.
SKILLS
- Strong property underwriting technical knowledge and trading mindset.
- Understanding of international property markets and territory-specific risk considerations.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Ability to work within agreed underwriting authority and escalate appropriately.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Professional and confident manner in broker-facing interactions.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and underwriting systems.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrable experience in property underwriting within the London market or MGA environment.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development within the insurance market.
