Job Title: Financial Lines Underwriter
Salary: 30,000 – 40,000 AED per month
Location: Dubai, UAE
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Our client is an established underwriting agency (MGA) with a growing international Financial Lines portfolio, seeking a Financial Lines Underwriter to join their Dubai office. The role will focus on underwriting Directors & Officers, Professional Indemnity, Cyber and Crime risks across the UAE and wider GCC region.
You will work closely with a panel of retail and wholesale brokers, playing a key role in developing the book further, building strong market relationships and helping to shape the ongoing growth of the Financial Lines offering in the region.
Please note, this is an essential requirement: candidates must already be based in the UAE.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Underwrite Financial Lines risks (D&O, PI, Cyber, Crime) for new business and renewals within agreed underwriting authority.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers across the UAE and wider GCC market.
- Assess risk, negotiate terms and pricing, and structure programmes across a broad range of business types and sectors.
- Refer risks outside personal authority to senior underwriters in line with the underwriting referral process.
- Support business development activity, including broker visits and market presence across the region.
- Ensure underwriting decisions align with internal guidelines, delegated authority and relevant regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of appetite, pricing strategy and product offering for the Financial Lines account.
- Maintain accurate underwriting records and documentation in line with company and regulatory standards.
- Liaise with reinsurers and internal claims/actuarial teams as required.
- Carry out any additional duties required by the business.
DAY TO DAY
- Review and underwrite incoming broker submissions within agreed service levels.
- Correspond with brokers by phone, email and in person to negotiate terms and resolve underwriting queries.
- Prepare quotations, policy documentation and renewal terms.
- Attend broker meetings and market events across Dubai and the wider region.
- Maintain accurate underwriting files and management information.
- Liaise with internal teams, including claims, compliance and actuarial, to support smooth policy administration.
- Keep up to date with market, regulatory and competitor developments affecting the Financial Lines class.
EXPERIENCE
- Essential: must already be based in and eligible to work from the UAE.
- Minimum 3-5 years' Financial Lines underwriting or broking experience (D&O, PI, Cyber or Crime).
- Prior experience of the UAE/GCC insurance market is highly desirable.
- Strong track record of building and maintaining broker relationships.
- Confident negotiator with sound technical underwriting judgement.
- Ability to work independently while operating within delegated authority.
- Positive, proactive and commercially minded approach.
SKILLS
- Strong technical Financial Lines underwriting knowledge.
- Excellent relationship management and negotiation skills.
- Ability to assess and price complex risks accurately.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Organised, with the ability to manage a varied caseload and work to deadlines.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and underwriting systems.
- Arabic language skills advantageous but not essential.
EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
- Relevant insurance qualifications (Cert CII, ACII or working towards, or an equivalent international qualification).
- Minimum 3-5 years' Financial Lines underwriting or broking experience.
- Must currently be based in the UAE (essential requirement).
- Commitment to ongoing professional development within the insurance market.
